Pretty vs. Yourself
Part 1: Distraction
Distractions
You can't wear this, too revealing to the boys;
a distraction
Too gory; Too revealing;
Too loud.
Most of these rules apply to
girls, and girls only.
Have you ever wondered?
Have you ever wondered what
it would be like if we
could express ourselves?
It would be so different..
Part 2: Sexism
Many years we have been criticized for how smart
we are.
Once we were only good
forvcooking and giving the men
whay they want.
Sons and seduction, that's what they
wanted.
Some still question what
we'e capable of, we distract
them for what we wear.
When they are supposed to
be taught it's good to be a
gentleman, still they do.
Part 3: Bullying
Loser, ugly, gay, nothing, fat.
Words hurt.
Once they've been said you
can't take them back. A lot of
people believe what you call
them, a lot go and try and be
fake so they don't go through
what others go through
everyday.
Some go for a close piece
of metal they know so well
Others have friends telling them
it will be better, you'll be skinny;
Beautiful
Then another one says
people think you're invisible,
they won't miss you.
Then some say that they
didn't mean for it to go so
far.
My question?
My question is when would
you stop?
Everyone expects you to
be perfect, beautiful,
thin, but not too skinny,
buy things at expensive
stores, rich, good grades,
good, everything.
But let's face it, we
won't have equality until
everyone is ... perfect

I was going through my closet and found a few things that would be distracting to wear to school and I got frustrated. So I talked to my teacher and we came to the conclusion that I should write poems to express how I felt, so she showed me here.
