Lost Sunshine
She was 17 when she lost all hope
the other kids told her she was a joke
they told her she wasn’t meant to be
but it was within herself she couldn’t see.
She was abused and abandoned
she was left in a trash can
“That’s your problem not mine”
and then was when she lost her sunshine
Walking alone in the cold
no one there to hold
head down hood on
no light, no sun
Damp from the rain
soaked in the pain
“That’s your problem not mine.”
and then was when she lost her sunshine
