I Wouldn't Be Surprised If You Were An Angel
It's hard knowing you're not good enough for someone,
It's even harder knowing how wrong they are.
They must be blinded by idiocy to not see how intelligent you are,
They must not have made you feel good, for if they did I know for a fact they would have fallen in love with your smile,
Or your laugh,
Because both are beautiful enough to be hung up in a glass case framed by diamonds,
Or nothing.
Since nothing can compare to the beauty your mother calls her daughter,
Your eyes like an ocean,
Your skin like velvet,
You're perfect yet you hide.
You cover yourself with as much fabric as you can so as to take away the attention from your face because you don't know,
And you never will,
How could you?
You can't see yourself in the ways everyone else can.
You look in the mirror but I doubt you see perfection
You don't see the things that I see,
You don't realize the amount of power you have by just saying one word,
Your voice like magic,
A sonnet from heaven,
Your silence like a knife.
Why deny someone the pleasure to be in your presence,
Why deny them the right to listen to your voice,
Why deny them the way I feel when I talk to you?
I wouldn't be surprised if you were an angel,
For if I look closely,
I can see your halo,
I can see your wings,
made up of all the things you think you should be,
Your halo is ironed,
Because you don't like your curly hair.
Your wings covered with powder,
Since you don't want your skin to be bare,
So you hide it with concealer, with lipstick, eyeliner and blush,
It's hard knowing you're not good enough for someone,
And hopefully, you will won't ever have to find out.
