I walked out
Into the dim glow
Of the twilight hour.
What serenity!

Time going through
A transition
From daylight
To darkness.

The leaves trembled
With the cold wind.
Sound of clapping
Leaves filled my ears.

Butterflies
Fluttered home
And birds fled
To their nests.

The snakes stretched
And prepared for hunt.
And so did the owls
Searching for rodents.

In that bright dimness
The white flowers glowed
Like a city
Through fog.

The earth beneath
Went deeper in
To the molten core
For motherly heat.

The plants curled
Their leaves
And the birds
Cuddled in.

The protective warmth
Of the morning sun
Was gone.
The cold was coming.

Some white flowers
Awoke to their morning
Spreading their
Intoxicating fragrance.

Some of the stars
Began to wake
And come out
From their blue blankets.

The moon spread
Its crescent halo,
Another dim light
In the sky.

I walked
To the lake
By my house-
A refuge of mine.

The wind was
Stronger there
For few trees
Held it away.

The windy waves
Of the lake
Caressed
The shore.

The hyacinths
Closed their pods
Of brightly colored
Pretty petals.

All creatures
Need their
Beauty sleep!

The colorful visage
Of vibrant nature
Turned old school
Black and white.

I looked
Into the lake-
The mirror
Of nature.

My slender fingers
Disturbed the water
And showed glimpses
And colors of other realms.

In twilight hours
The divides break.
Worlds open
To embrace.

I embraced the Wind
Who sat like a wolf,
Cuddled to me,
My savior, my guide.

The wind leads me
On and on,
On my path I seize
The moments it leaves me.

So, in the darkening glow
Of the fading twilight,
Intoxicated with serenity,
I sat by the lake.

The author's comments:

Twilight is a magic time. When the sun goes down and there's just a little bit of his light lingering around in a mild darkness, the visage of the landscape is changed into something beautiful. It gives it a wonderland appearance. So, next time the sun is setting, let your eyes find a new land in the same places.
