Rabbit
Crunck Crunck,
I hear the fallen leaves
on the brisk, dirt ground
Peering over my right shoulder
I see a white ball
rolling through the red and brown leaves
Its long, silver ears
sticking straight up
It turns toward me,
its tiny blue eyes
staring back at me
I take a step towards
my new friend
hoping it doesn’t bounce away
But my hopes
slowly drain away
as it hops into the twenty foot trees
It hurts knowing
that I will never see
my little white friend again
