We Grew Up

We grew up fearing the dark scared to close our
eyes for fear of the monsters under our beds
we then grew up and feared death the uncertainty
in what would happen
I sit here now prying for it to come I have waited years
for my fear to disappear but they never will now the
monsters under my bed are in my head and the fear of
death is now a hope that it will come
