The word chemo slices through my skin
The sound of that word is sickening
Questions arise because no one knows
Worries intensify in the eyes
It’s all a surprise
It would never happen to my child they say
That feeling as if you are not okay
The word cancer trickles down my tongue
Is that it
Will one word take your life
No matter how hard you fight
You might lose your light
Hope disappears
You begin to prepare
Why is life cruel
This should not be a duel
They are just Children
Their lives are just starting to begin

This was eye opening. It tells the horrible truth of cancer and I like the authors word choice. Great job Ms. Megan B. I can feel what you are feeling though this poem.
