Breaking Free
An egg.
A single egg.
Sitting all alone on a leaf.
Days later, a caterpillar hatches out of the egg.
Spending it’s first weeks of life with one goal,
Eat until it can’t eat anymore.
Just sitting on that leaf,
Now larger than ever, the caterpillar sleeps.
For a long time.
Until one day it leaves that cocoon.
Leaving behind it’s whole life, the egg, the leaf, the chrysalis.
All to spread it’s new wings and fly free.
