Burning Out
Pages fly past my fingertips a mirage of memories
flashes before my eyes.
You were so vibrant,
the brightest star that danced on nights black canvas.
The memories of you cuts and thrashes through my heart,
slowly killing me.
But then your smile began to evaporate and your dancing ceased.
The pills stopped working,
and I watched you begin to collapse in your self.
In a slow and painful spiral you left me.
Now all I have left is a black hole where my heart used to be.
Now I look at the photo album of you,
my baby girl, my star.
Sipping down my sixth glass of bourbon,
trying to forget.
