Before I met you,
I was afraid of flying
to places I’d never been before.
But you took me on an exhilarating high.

The adventure of our love was unexpected.
I had no suitcases packed,
no passport prepared,
no knowledge of where we were going.

Our journey
reached the top of Mount Everest
where we survived the chills and storms
that sometimes left us frozen in fear.

Perhaps it was because we dived in
too fast, too serious,
and we could not bear the pressures
of the endless Atlantic sea depths.

But we endured the rough seas
until we arrived
to the enchanted beaches of the Caribbean
where we began to build ourselves.

We raised our love to stand strong and tall
like Egypt’s’ great pyramids
and begin a history
as ancient as the Pharaohs within them.

In an aimless expedition,
you’ve become my one and only wonder of the world
and I never want a plane ticket home.
