No Speck in My Eye

digits slip over stick of metal and plastic
in a desk drawer that only rests in folds of the night
with no speck in my eye
and a flashlight in my palm
and a black bic in the other
I fold into a temporal pleat
a speck in the eye makes it hard to see
hard to think down through shrouded fingers
that don't feel watched
