Battling Sadness
I feel intense sadness,
Deep inside of me.
I feel intense pain,
Keeping me from being free.
Something's holding me back,
But I don't know what.
Something deep inside,
Has me in a rut.
I put on a smile,
That is easy to feign.
Every new day,
I live with the pain.
My soul is unsatisfied,
Searching for purpose.
Don't know what I want,
My thoughts are a circus.
Soft tears come,
When I'm all alone.
This shouldn't be the attitude,
Of a queen on her throne.
Occasionally I realize,
I have strength and willpower.
I spring from my roots,
And sprout up like a flower.
I take in positivity,
The water that gives me life.
The sadness goes away,
Until a far off night.

I wrote straight from the heart. In this poem, I'm not saying I'm depressed. I'm not saying I'm sad every day of my life. What am I saying? Sometimes I just feel intense sadness, and I think it's because I'm at war with the darkness of myself. The end of the poem kind of symbolizes winning the battle, but not necesarily the war.
