Freckles of the Sky
Massive, bright
little suns dotting the sky.
Like freckles covering the surface
of sun kissed skin.
200-400 billion of them spanning
through our Milky Way,
alone.
Each one held together by its own gravity,
year after year,
decade after decade.
Always being watched
by the hunter,
the scorpion,
the fish.
Constellations ruling
the entire northern and southern sky.
Our sky,
the sky that lets us dream
each night.
Scientists say
that they do not actually twinkle,
only appearing to because of the earths atmosphere
deflecting the sun.
Keeping us and the stars forever in different worlds.
Like a silver, defining shield
protecting an ancient warrior
in battle.
