For some,
You are the beacon of light in the dark of a storm,
The brightest star in their galaxy,
A friend
A guide          5

A father.
You are a warm embrace,
a gentle breeze on a hot summer day,
the single oasis in a dry, sandy desert.
The orange yellow pink in sunsets and sunrises,  10

the one that makes everyone stare until the light leaves
Colors coming through tinted windows,
Chimes playing in the wind,
A rose blooming in mid spring.
To them you are everything in life.    15
For others,
You are an unwanted gift,
A shadowy graveyard full of ghosts,
A gray blob in a painting full of color,
A non existent entity.       20
A void.
A nothing.
White gray black unseen in the dark night sky
like a camouflaged soldier in the thick, green brush.
Mausoleums being sealed,      25
Wounds being stitched,
Glass shattering,
To them you are nothing but an abyss.
But you are not a void,
Nor are you a garden full of life.    30
You are a new place wanting to be explored for me,
A new adventure.
A mystery.
A fresh start.
I have my doubts about you,      35
And my thoughts swirl in my head
Like an artist mixing paints,
Messy and well thought.
Your true colors have yet to show,
And I will be here waiting until they do.   40
Whether you are a nothingness,
a piece of false hope,
or a treasure chest
full of beautiful stones and gold,
I will be waiting for you to appear    45
in a vibrant explosion,
out of the cavern of my mind.
