What Lies Beneath

The sun reflecting off the top,
With dolphins jumping out nonstop.
Schools of fish swimming around,
Looking for a meal to be found.

We know the surface of the ocean
Nothing will stop, always in motion.
As we go under to take a peek
We discover creatures very unique.

We can only go to certain limits,
As pressure takes life and tries to trim it.
People wonder how far it goes down,
As they are in it, not wanting to drown.

When will the truth ever come out
What is down near the bottom and lies about?
The things that lurk and wait for fallen prey,
They can't be seen, they stay away.

As the angler fish uses it's light,
The only thing at the bottom that shines bright
They are one of the fish that people fear
With their teeth that glow like gigantic spears.

The giant squid roaming freely,
As they get food and dive deeply
They use their tenticles to wrap around you
And sticks to you like a quantity of glue.

What will happen when they are discovered?
When the mysteries are finally uncovered.
Who knows the secrets of what the ocean holds
As one little clue can turn into gold.

When will the time come to know what's underneath
And we will finally be able know
That everything surrounding us down low,
And whatever that is, is what lies beneath.
