All at Once
With every leaf falling off the tree, another man sold his stocks
It happened as fast as autumn changes to winter
One day all of the leaves are there and the next day they are gone
The economy was booming, then BANG the stock market suddenly crashed
The beautiful, crisp fall days were still on the horizon when suddenly, the first snow
It laid a cold, harsh blanket over the country just as the depression laid an aura of fear and uncertainty in the minds of innocent people
Leaves lost their color like a man loses his stability
Branches are stripped of their leaves
Businesses forced to close, life savings lost, families evicted from their homes
The color and happiness, all gone
Dark, cruel days takeover
The Roaring 20’s is no longer, just as fall has been covered up by the long, dreaded winter
The depression sets in and the people wait, wait for paychecks that will never come and the faraway hot summer days
