Nothing Between Us
The boy drove me home on Saturday night.
I didn't tell him the quickest way to my house,
Because I wanted to enjoy the smell of his car a little while longer.
I wanted his scent to stick to my clothing,
So it would feel like he's with me when I can't sleep.
I wanted to remain in the comfortable silence a little while longer,
Before I would return home to the awkward questions from my parents,
Asking me who drove me home.
I wanted to forget how I'd have to tell them you're "just a friend,"
And that there's "nothing between us."
