It’s a word
That makes me
Presents underneath
The Christmas tree.
Boxes in hand,
Wide-eyed with joy,
Waiting for the cue
That I can begin
Tearing them open.

It’s a word
That makes me
Sitting around
The family table,
Family in hand,
Reminiscing times past,
Crying over memories long gone,
Thankful for the love,
That encompasses me.

It’s a word
That makes me
Cross-legged upon my
Coffee-cushioned couch,
Watching the next generation
Open their Christmas presents,
Wide-eyed with happiness,
Waiting for the cue,
To shred open them all.

It’s a word
That makes me
Innocence and presents,
Love and family,
Memories and remembering,
Giving and ecstasy.
Best of all,
It’s a word,

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

This poem is so beautiful; it is the epitome of warm meals, cozy sweaters, and everything lovely about winter. My only feedback would be to make each paragraph longer, as the words "Winter, it's a word that makes me ponder" takes up about half of each.
