School and Seasons
The summer heat beats down on the students long into the night,
Friendships blossom under the heat and summer flings ensue:
laughter, late nights, freedom.
The long summer nights quickly fade into short fall days.
School picks up at full speed:
homework, quizzes, tests.
The bitter winds of winter creep into students attitudes,
The stress of finals and achieving the perfect grade attacks:
much coffee, cramming textbook definitions, all-nighters.
The bright, cheery spring replaces its cruel brother winter.
However stress never replenishes as the school year winds down:
Final exams, college preparation, GPA and class rankings.
The final day of school generates a flood of relief over the student body.
For two and a half short months their worries can disappear.
Friends, relationships, self-development.
