Diving
Stand at the edge
waiting for my conscious
to tell me when to go.
Water drips down my leg
from the previous dive
that hadn’t turned out well.
wrap my toes
around the corner of the pool,
making sour I’ve got enough grip.
Finally pull down my goggles,
pull my hands up
one behind the other
and stand straight.
I bend toward the pool
putting my hands close to the water
and jump
flinging my self forward.
I feel my body
glide into the cool water
without the usual burn,
I did it right.
