The Moon that night cast a shadow on more than my thin bones.
Silver was strewn over those who live when the sun doesn’t shine.
Wandering the streets, gliding under the golden streetlights,
seeing a world with empty houses and endless roads.
Sitting next to lamps listening to the breathing of those who will wake up today,
working away their lives and softly falling asleep again.
Laying in their beds, glaring at the ceiling that like the abyss,
only stared back with its utmost apathy.
Bodies pulling a rope knotted to the carcass of an immovable mind that’s too stubborn to present its nightmares at the appropriate times.
And in the nights without a Moon, a cold light to illuminate bloodshot eyes,
it’s easier to smile at what you can’t see.
