The One I Wrote for You

Roses are Red
Violets aren’t actually blue
But really, who cares?
I wrote this for you.

People don’t tell you often
Enough that you’re good,
So I said “hey!”
And decided I would.

You are a great friend,
It is you I adore.
You’re one person existing
That I just can’t ignore.

You are a beautiful person.
You are the fairest of fair,
The best of them all
Who could compare?

You’re pretty cool
Much cooler than I,
And yet you wonder
What you are in their eyes.

A freak? A monster?
Some demon from hell?
You fear what you might be
And you hide in your shell.

It makes me so sad
To see you this way,
To hear you aren’t well
So I pray, “Dear God,
please make her happy today.”

But when things go wrong
And go wrong they so often do,
It feels like I can’t even
Get through to you.

Listen to me, damn it!
That knife and those pills,
Put those things down!
Don’t you know?
Those things kill!

I freaking love you!
Why can’t you see?
These things that you do
I also did them to me...

I guess now we match, huh?
Though we aren’t meant to be
We can still be friends,
You and me.

Life is out there
Just waiting to be lived!
And I’d like you
To come along for the ride.

So that was my poem,
I wrote it last night.
I wrote it for you.
So don’t laugh at it, alright?
