I Saw Death Once
I saw Death once.
The cold radiating off of his decaying body
Awoke me from my slumber.
My eyelids opened,
I sat up
And I saw him standing beside my bed.
With a scythe in hand and a dirty black robe,
He didn't look at me.
He looked at my feet.
"Are you afraid?" He asked.
"No," I replied
"Good" He said
And then,
I went back to sleep.
I saw Death twice.
The blood trickling down his scythe
Awoke me from my slumber
My eyelids opened,
The room was red.
I sat up
And I saw him beside my bed.
With a scythe in hand and a dirty grey robe,
He didn't look at me.
It brought me anger and relief.
He was looking at my feet.
"Does it hurt?" He asked.
"It stings," I replied.
"Good" He said.
And then,
I went back to sleep.
I saw Death three times.
The third time, he wasn't happy.
The sound of his growling
Awoke me from my slumber.
My eyelids opened,
He didn't give me time to sit up.
"There is rope hanging from your ceiling." He said.
"No there's not," I replied
"There's candy shaped posion under your pillow"
"It's not mine,"
"There's a razor blade inside your mind,"
"No there's not."
"Do you want to die?" He asked.
And then,
I went back to sleep.
I saw Death one last time.
His red eyes staring at me
Awoke me from my slumber.
My eyelids opened
I sat up,
My heart jumping at the sight of Death glaring at me.
With a scythe in hand and a dirty white robe he asked:
"Are you afriad?"
"No," I replied.
"Are you in pain?"
"It stings"
"There's rope, pills, and a razor blade"
"They're mine"
"Do you want to die?"
I paused.
"Do you want to die?"
I didn't say anything.
"Do you want to die?"
I said yes.
He grabbed my wrist,
And right when I thought that
He was going to drag me to hell,
He handed me a phone.
The lady on the other end said: "Hello?"
I brought the phone to my ear,
The lady said: "How may I help you?"
I said: "I want to die...
I want to die!
And I don't want to want to die!"
She said: "bandage your wrists."
I looked down at my arms,
such a bloody mess,
I shook my head,
I cried,
I said,
"I don't want to die..."
I looked back up.
And Death,
Was gone.
