The Girl Next Door
I met her just a year ago
I walked through her doors
and the aroma of bread
filled my nose, and the air
contained small chatter
like angels singing a tune.
My Dad never wants to bring me
but still I plead
I use my puppy eyes.
He gives in to my story.
I get in the line & look at the
neverending menu
I always get the panini
and sometimes tortellini
It feels like home
and makes me warm
Panera is my second home
I don’t go often but
the atmosphere is always welcoming
and adds a spark in my heart
With only one trip a month,
it’s hard without her
The high prices are worth
the joy to my taste buds
We get back in the car
I kiss him on the cheek
“Thanks for my tasty treat”
I only love 2 things in this world.
