River Street

Cobblestones line the street in front of the many unique shops inviting me to see what’s inside.
Boats fill the gleaming Savannah River for the hundreds of people to see.
The effervescent pigeons hobble and flutter down the street, chased by eighth graders.
Is anyone as fascinated by River Street as I am?

The shade under small trees and awnings contradicts the piercing sunlight.
The bright blue sky is clear of any clouds, a perfect Savannah day.
Why can’t Lilburn be this beautiful?

The pitter-patter of feet walking up and down the street can be heard from everywhere.
As you walk into a store, you hear the ringing of a bell above the entrance.
On some corners, you can hear the singing voice or the strumming guitar of a street performer.
Has this street ever heard silence?

River Street excites me with its eccentric shops and lively commotion.
Can I live here instead?
