Scars
Scars are ugly,
But they don’t hurt,
If it does
Then it’d be a wound,
One yet to be healed.
But not all scars show,
For sometimes thoughts
Are the things that scar the most,
Also, not all wounds heal,
Sometimes you can’t just see the pain
A person might feel.
For every wound that does heal,
There is a scar,
And every scar heals,
One that says:
“I survived.”
For out of our suffering
Have emerged stronger souls,
And the most massive characters
Are sealed with scars.
Scars are ugly,
They mar the flesh,
And mended souls;
The sown pieces of the broken heart,
Not quite what it once was,
And a better story than any tattoo.
Scars are ugly,
But you should be proud
Of all the “scars” in your life,
For each one holds
A lifetime’s worth of lessons,
And memories.
You should never be ashamed
Of a scar,
It simply means you were stronger
Than whatever tried to break you.
We all have stories,
And our scars tell them,
History written on your body.
All people have scars,
In all sorts of unexpected places,
Like secret road-maps
To their personal histories.
Scars are ugly,
And you can forget the pain
You've been dealt in your life,
But the scars,
The scars will always remind you.
Scars should remind you
Of where you've been,
And who you were,
They don’t have to dictate
Who you are,
And where you’re going.
Scars remind us
That our past is real,
That we've grown beyond it,
And that we've survived it.
Scars are reminders,
Reminders of battles lost,
And battles won.
A scar means
that the hurt is over now,
the wound is closed,
healed,
and done with.
That the pain has ended,
And it can do no more damage,
Your suffering is over now.
Scars are ugly,
And a lot like battle wounds,
They show what you've been through,
And how strong you are for coming out of it.
Every scar you have makes you who you are,
You wouldn't be the person you are without them,
And for that,
Scars are beautiful,
Our scars make us beautiful.
