Never Give Up On Your Self
It was a busy day as always in New York.
“Hurry up Isabella,” yelled Lizbeth. “We’re going to miss our ride if you don’t hurry up.”
“I’m going mom,” exclaimed Isabella as she got dressed rapidly.
“Your dad has your breakfast ready on top of the kitchen table,” said Lizbeth.
“Okay mom,” said Isabella. Isabella ran to the kitchen table to eat her breakfast.
“We are going to miss our rides as well as your dad,” yelled Lizbeth.
“I’m finished mom,” said Isabella as she ran into her bedroom to grab her backpack.
“Sweetie lets go before we don’t make it on time,” said Mark.
“Yes I know dad, I’m going,’’ said Isabella.
As they all left their fancy apartment Mark had left different directions from Isabella and Lizbeth.
“See you later daddy,” said Isabella as she got into Marissa’s car, who gives them rides.
“You too sweetie,” waved Mark with a big smile on his face.
Like always Isabella asked her mom, “Mom is dad going to pick me up from school today?”
“No darling,” said Lizbeth. “You know your dad can’t ever pick up from school due to his job.”
“I know mommy but I would like for my dad to pick me up like my friend’s fathers,” said Isabella in a disappointed way.
“Your dad has a stable job right now, which he shouldn’t be missing any time due to the low economy everyone is facing right now, however; I don’t have a very stable job,” said Lizbeth. “Let me tell you something Isabella we may not look as poor as the other people because your dad has a very good job.” He tries his best not to miss a day so he won’t lose his job as well, as I do but I don’t really have a stable job like your dad.’’
“Yes I’m aware of that and I thank God for everything you and my dad do for me,” said Isabella.
“You don’t have to thank me anything sweetie, that’s what I’m here for even though, we can’t really say the same exact about your dad,” said Lizbeth. “Your dad does worry a lot about you and I but not as much as himself.” “He doesn’t want to experience new obstacles in life that is why he does all this.”
“What do you mean by that?” said Isabella.
“I mean your dad doesn’t want to live in a poor life,” said Lizbeth.
“But, there is nothing wrong with living in that situation,” said Isabella.
“Isabella if it weren’t for your dad’s job we wouldn’t be living in this life we’ve been living all this time,” said Lizbeth.
“Do you mean we wouldn’t be living in a very stable life?” said Isabella.
“No, sweetie your dad wouldn’t be able to handle living in a poor situation, he would get tired of it and find a way out,” said Lizbeth.
“So, let’s say if one day my dad got fired from his job for a reason what would we do or what would he dox,” questioned Isabella?
“I honestly never thought about it in that way and I wouldn’t even know what would happen,” said Lizbeth.
“I would never want that to happen,” said Isabella. “I don’t say that because we would live in poor situation, but we wouldn’t know what would happen to neither my dad nor the actions he would do.”
“Okay Isabella we’ll talk about this later because you have to get to class,” said Lizbeth as they arrived at school.
“Yea mom we can continue this conversation at home,” said Isabella.
“Yes, but go on or you’re going to be late for school,” said Lizbeth.
“Bye mom, Bye Marissa,” said Isabella as she waved to both of them.
“Adios darling,” said Marissa.
“Bye sweetie, see you later,” said Lizbeth as Marissa starting heading to work.
“What’s wrong Lizbeth,” said Marissa. “You’ve been so quiet ever since you had that conversation with Isabella.”
“Yes you’re right,” said Lizbeth.
“What’s the matter,” said Marissa.
“It’s that now I’m really starting to think what Mark is going to do when one day he loses his job,” said Lizbeth.
“Don’t worry Lizbeth everything will be fine,” said Marissa.
“I’m not really sure about that Marissa because I know Mark and he wouldn’t be able to survive in this situation,” said Lizbeth.
“Let’s just think in a positive way,” said Marissa. “Pretend like this is never going to happen.”
“You’re right Marissa I shouldn’t be stressing or depressing on something that may never occur,” said Lizbeth.
“Yes that’s what I’m talking about let’s leave all those depressing thoughts off your mind and lets go in before we’re late,” said Marissa.
“Let’s go in,” said Lizbeth as she calmed down a little. “I really need to get things off my mind for a while and I think working will be an excellent way.”
Its 1:30 pm in New York.
“Come on let’s get going now Lizbeth,” said Marissa.
“I’m coming let me just get my bag and sign out,” said Lizbeth. Lizbeth signed out on the part time section.
“Ok hurry or we’re going to arrive late to pick up Isabella,” said Marissa as she got into the car.
“Coming,” yelled Lizbeth as she ran towards the car.
Marissa dropped off Isabella and Lizbeth home.
“Sweetie what would you like to eat for dinner today,” said Lizbeth.
“Umm I would like to have chicken with mash potatoes and corn,” said Isabella. “But let’s wait until my dad arrives so we can all eat together as a nice family we are.”
“That sound great to me,” said Lizbeth. “Let me just get all the ingredients ready so when Mark gets home dinner will be ready.”
“Ok mom, can I help you,” said Isabella.
“Of course sweetie you now I love it when we spend time together especially when we are making dinner together,” said Lizbeth.
“Me too Mom let me just take my backpack to my bedroom and I’ll be back to help you,” said Isabella.
“Make sure your room is cleaned first Isabella,” said Lizbeth in a not worrying manner because she knows Isabella’s room is always organized.
“You don’t ever have to worry about my room being messy because I always keep it very clean,” said Isabella.
“I know Isabella but I just wanted to make sure,” said Lizbeth.
They both hear a noise coming from the front door.
“It’s dad,” yelled Isabella as she ran to him and gave him a huge bear hug.
“Hi sweetie how was your day,” said Mark with a very sad frown on his face.
“Hello daddy it was good what about yours,” said Isabella.
“Well I didn’t really want to mention it to you guys because I didn’t want to worry you but I’ll just let you know before you hear from anyone else,” said Mark. “All the employees today got informed that for now on we will only be working at least two to three hours a day, but not the whole week they reduced it to only working on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.”
“I’m sorry Mark I know how much you loved your job there but unfortunately this had to occur,” said Lizbeth.
“Lizbeth I don’t know how were going to control this, what are we going to do, and how are we going to pay all the bills and any other thing we need,” said Mark upset.
“Don’t worry Mark we will figure something out,” said Lizbeth.
“How Lizbeth,” said Mark. “I will only be working for at least three hours and not every day.” “You only work five days how do you suppose we are going to be able to live how we were used to.”
“I don’t know Mark, but we will a find a solution,” said Lizbeth.
Mark kept quiet for a while.
“Maybe I can handle it for a few weeks Lizbeth but I can’t guarantee you that I can live like this for a very long period of time,” said Mark.
“Ok,” said Lizbeth in a scared way. “At least you’re not giving up on your self to soon.” Honestly I’m afraid what Mark’s actions are going to be when he can’t handle it anymore,” says Lizbeth to herself.
“I just want to go to sleep and wake up to it just being a bad dream,” said Mark as he walked towards his and Lizbeth’s bedroom.
“But, Isabella and I haven’t ate because we were waiting for you to arrive so we could all eat together,” said Lizbeth.
“I’m sorry but I’m not in the mood of eating right now,” said Mark very upset.
“It’s ok daddy, I understand what you’re going through,” said Isabella.
Lizbeth and Isabella left to the kitchen table and sat down to eat dinner.
“Mom do you remember that earlier we were just speaking about this situation,” said Isabella.
“You’re right Isabella I do remember,” said Lizbeth. “How could this occur to your dad just the same exact day were discussing about it.”
“I don’t know mom but that is very strange,” said Isabella.
“Yes it is but let’s give your dad time,” said Lizbeth. “Maybe later he could get over that bad opinion about living in a poor situation.”
“That is exactly what we have to do mom,” said Isabella. “We have to give my dad time.”
“Yes Isabella maybe your dad being a smart man will rethink before committing any actions,” said Lizbeth. “Now let’s go to sleep and get some rest because you have to get up early tomorrow for school.”
Isabella and Lizbeth both left the kitchen and started heading to their bed.
“Good night mom,” said Isabella.
“You too darling sweet dreams,” said Lizbeth.
It is 8:00 am in New York. The alarm clock is ringing.
“Come on Isabella,” said Lizbeth as opened the front door.
“But we have to wait for my dad,” said Isabella.
“Sweetie it’s a Wednesday today your day doesn’t work today,” said Lizbeth.
“Oh yea that’s right I had forgotten about that,” said Isabella.
“Ok Isabella lets go before we’re late,” said Lizbeth as she started heading to Marissa’s car.
“Isabella where’s the newspaper for today,” yelled Mark.
“On the kitchen table,” yelled Lizbeth as well.
Mark grabbed the newspaper and started highlighting all the sections where they are hiring people. So, he left the apartment and went out in a search for a job. He went to every place he had highlighted but they were all lower class jobs that Mark didn't even try to give it a chance and go in. Mark said to himself, “I will never work for these kinds of people.” So, he left back home with no job. It seemed like Mark wasn't going to be able to handle it for much time.
A week had gone way. Isabella and Lizbeth had left but Mark had stayed home alone.
It was 2:00 pm in New York. Lizbeth and Isabella walked in the apartment.
“Dad’s home,” yelled Isabella.
There was absolutely no sound.
“Mark where are you,” said Lizbeth.
Isabella and Lizbeth looked all over the apartment. Mark was not saw anywhere. Until, Isabella ran into their bedroom and she seen an envelope lying on top of the bed.
“Mom look,” yelled Isabella.
“What is it sweetie,” said Lizbeth as she started walking into the bedroom.
“It’s an envelope,” said Isabella. It says, “It’s from Mark to Lizbeth and Isabella.”
“Let me see it Isabella,” said Lizbeth as she started opening it.
It says, “I’m so sorry Isabella and Lizbeth I just couldn't handle it anymore. This morning I had left to in a search for a job but I just couldn't make it to the idea that it is something real happening to me. I aware that I'm leaving you guys with nothing in your hands but I know you guys can do so much more than I can. I love you guys and I will never forget you guys. I really am so sorry it's that I just couldn't take it anymore. I will leave somewhere you guys would never so I won't have to disappoint you guys.
Sincerely,
Mark
Lizbeth and Isabella eyes started tearing up.
“Mommy why did dad have to leave us,” said Isabella.
“I don't know sweetie maybe your dad just needs to rethink things out,” said Lizbeth.
“I want my dad home,” said desperately Isabella.
“Me too Isabella but I have no idea where he could have left too,” said Lizbeth
A few days had went by and Lizbeth had gotten full - custody of Lizbeth due to Mark leaving them for no reasonable answer. Lizbeth still has her job.
“Let's go to the bank Isabella,” said Lizbeth.
“For what cause mom,” said Isabella?
“Well I have been saving up some money for you,” said Lizbeth as she drove to the bank.
“For school,” questioned Lizbeth?
“Yes sweetie and for any other items you will need,” said Lizbeth
“Thank you so much mom I know you have always worried about me especially when my dad left us,” said Isabella.
“You don't have to thank me Isabella I do everything just for you to have everything necessary you need,” said Lizbeth. “Now come on so we can ask for a bank box.”
“A bank box,” questioned Isabella?
“Yes it's a little box you rent from the bank and it saves your money there in a little room,” said Lizbeth. “It is very safe because you can only open it by having to two keys which is my copy and the bank's copy.”
“I never knew that existed but that is very good and safe place,” said Isabella as they entered the room to leave the money.
Isabella and Lizbeth arrived home one afternoon. The house phone starts to ring.
“Answer it Isabella,” said Lizbeth.
“It's a call from the bank mom,” said Isabella.
“Let me see I’ll answer it,” said Lizbeth. “Hello.”
“Hello this is John from Bank of America,” said John. “Can I speak to Lizbeth Sanchez?”
“Yes this is Lizbeth Sanchez,” said Lizbeth.
“Hello Lizbeth, we are very sorry about this terrible tragedy but we just wanted to inform you that this morning Bank of America was robbed and they stole every single dollar inside including the money you just had placed in a bank box a few days ago,” said John.” “The police officers couldn't capture any of them but they are still in a search for them.” “Again we are very sorry.” “The Federal Government will not be able to replace the existing amount until the upcoming year.”
“What am I going to do that was all the money I had,” said Lizbeth as she finished talking to John."
“What happened mom,” said Lizbeth very worried?
“You remember that money we just and placed in the bank box not that much ago,” said Lizbeth.
“Yes I remember mom,” said Isabella.
“Well I just got informed that the bank was robbed and they took all the money including ours,” said Lizbeth disappointed.” “I will get my existing amount of money back the upcoming year, but thats all the money I had.” “How will I be able to pay all the bills?”
“That's horrible mom,” said Lizbeth upset. “Why are disappointing things happening to us mom we haven't done anything bad.”
“I know sweetie but like they say everything happens for a reason,” said Lizbeth.
Lizbeth had left to work and Isabella to school. She didn't have a mind for work that day. She thought to herself how she was going to overcome this obstacle. Lizbeth had to move out the apartment because she wasn't going to be able to afford it. One early morning, Lizbeth called in that she wasn't going to be able to attend work today due to personal problems. Lizbeth and Isabella both stayed home to move all their belonging to Marissa’s house who had gave them shelter and helped a lot with Isabella. Two months had gone by. Lizbeth had stepped up her game and focused a lot into her job. She progressed a lot gained a lot of money towards her work company. One day she got called into her boss's office, Lizbeth was frightened she didn't know what was going on. Jake her boss informed her that she was no longer going to be a part time worker. Lizbeth had promoted to a Full-Time job. Lizbeth was too excited she didn't know how to thank Jake for such a great opportunity.
“Lizbeth you can only thank me with one thing,” said Jake very proud of her.
“What is it Jake,” said Lizbeth.”
“All you have to do is do what you have done to promote where you are now are,” said Jake.
“I would be more than pleased to do accomplish it,” said Lizbeth so thank full.
One whole year has passed. Lizbeth had bought a beautiful house where her daughter (Isabella) and her lived happily together.
