One Star
Pale fingertips reach for a shooting star in the ebony night sky,
"Catch me if you can!" giggled the star,
She would close her fingers over the star & capture it in a milky white prison for just a moment.
Her eyes would shut for a brief second,
"I wish..." is all that is heard from her voice,
A tiny breath from her parted lips sends the star fluttering from her outstretched hand & out into the atmosphere, letting the star be reunited with it's millions of friends.
"Welcome back, friend!" all of the stars chime in,
One little tug forms a soft smile over her face,
She rises from her spot in the middle of the newly grown Spring field,
Shifts her legs just a bit,
And tiptoes away.
