A Day at the Beach
Warm, scratchy sand falls between our toes
  as we bury our feet,
  and our problems.
  Seagulls soar through the air,
  screeching like our laughter
when we start to have fun.
We coat our teeth in sugar,
because for now candy is enough
  to keep us smiling forever.
And when we leave the sand and the laughter and the sugar
the memories won’t leave with us,
  because we’ll return tomorrow.
