Angels
She was sitting on the edge of the bed
trying not to fall off
she was watching the wall
hoping it would not move again
she was smelling the polaroids on the string
on the wall
on the sides
of their room
and they smelled like another place
and she kinda hoped she could get there
“They look like heaven”
“I know”
and she looked like hell
“But i don’t wanna die”
“I know”
but she kinda hoped she could get there
They were singing choruslines of I’m-ok
and it almost sounded like music
like rain on the asphalt
And they’re walking on the other sides of mirrors
and she’s pulling the polaroids off the string
they smell all too familiar now
“When the angels look down from heaven does earth look far away”
“I don’t know”
They’re rain on the windows, and she can’t see outside
they sat in a circle
sharing threeam breaths
and they were all kinda shattered
but the pieces came together like jigsaw
and they were the stars at night
and the waxing moon
over the sea
