Into My Heart
If you walk into my heart...
You would see a muscle
If you walk into my heart
You would see a muscle working hard
Working hard to stay alive
Working to survive
If you walk into my heart
You would see the irony
The thing keeping you alive is also the thing killing you
The thing that causes people to jump off buildings or into someone's arms
If you walk into my heart
You would see a muscle that is also meant for love
A muscle that can be broken so very easily
If you walk into my heart
You would hit a wall
A wall so big that Fort Knox wouldn't compare
A wall so high Humpty Dumpty wouldn't be recognized
If you walk into my heart
You would see a weight of guilt and pain
A weight making it hard to survive
If you walk into my heart
You would see a little girl
Scared and in the dark
Scared to open her eyes because the storm is so big
If you walk into my heart
You would see secrets from bottom to top
Creating a hole bigger than the Grand Canyon
If you walk into my heart
You would see compassion and love buried by years of let downs and heartaches
Feelings hidden by the fear of being weak, vulnerable, judged, and rejected
If you walk into my heart
You wouldn't see a thing because no one ever makes it that far.

This is everything inside me written down into words I could never say out loud even if my life depended on it. It is what I think and what I feel.
