Winter Swells

It’s winter
Strong north swells
rolling into Maui’s north shore
At night I lay in bed
listening to the thundering sound
of the huge waves crashing down
Imagining the incredible size, power, and beauty
In the morning
I go watch the surfers
Boats and skis scattered everywhere
Crowds of people cover along the cliffs
Cameras everywhere
Waiting for the one brave surfer
to take the charge
down the forty foot monster
