Autumn Spells
Gray skies,
purple clouds,
breaking in
the right moment
as a leaf falls,
right into outstretched hands.
A cold winter,
a freezing fall,
no warmth here;
no sun at all.
Unused to freeze,
she bundled up
in a purple coat
and a black scarf.
Staying cold,
alone and battered
she fell to the snow
littered ground with a sob,
"Cold, snow, and ice
please leave me be;
I have done what I can
to keep myself warm."
The cold answered
with leaves askew,
"I'll never leave,
I'll never warm;
I like it here-
You're miserable!"
