Riding on a vessel taking me far away from humanity

On my way to start a journey that will later become a colorful memory,

I am on a snorkeling excursion to explore the hidden world beneath me.

The motor of the boat comes to a slow then disappearing rumble.

The waves revisit, drifting back to us slowly, gently.

As the anchor hits the sandy bottom, tiny bubbles rise to the surface.

I put on my snorkeling gear quickly, anxiously,

my thoughts moving fast, my body moving slow, cautiously.

As I reach the end of the vessel I dive off quickly,

before my conscience can tell me otherwise.

My body sinks deeper and deeper,

I am cocooned in the smooth cold water, it awakes me.

Becoming more aware of my surroundings, I notice red, blue, yellow scales shimmering from the light

seeping through the surface.

I swirl and summersault in the beauty surrounding me.

The ocean dilutes my brain of worries,

every anxious feeling sinks into the oblivion.

I melt into the waves, I feel whole, far away from humanity.
