Theology Debunked
My morals were crushed by the weight of a bible on my lap,
Pages of sermons drained the my individualism,
And hymns that were supposed to reinforce positive ideals,
Weighed down my soul like lead would.
The words “repent” and “god” are the true curse words in my vocabulary.
And because I chose Armstrong,
as the only person who could live in the sky and teach me about life,
they called me an atheist.
Dinner table conversations,
With a father who dreamed of being a scientist,
And a former catholic school girl as a mother,
The big bang was accepted yet shut down,
like a computer in the year 2000.
“God created the Big Bang, and the Big Bang created the world,”
was an excuse for me to not eat my peas,
and to please both of my parents desires.
With adolescence came a change where I realized that boys,
Had the effect of honey on me,
Always wishing for more,
Forever hoping that they could leave their sweet taste on my lips.
“One should never lay with a man like he should with a woman”
the bible tells me not to like boys,
well I don’t like the bible,
I don’t like church because I can’t sing,
Well Jesus was a good looking dude,
All thoughts made by me when sitting in English class.
Pondering the possibility of what I’ll become,
Or what I’ll do with my newfound addiction to honey.

Growing up I was always conflicted about religion vs science so I wrote a poem about it. :)
