A Cowboys Christmas
White snow falls from the country sky,
As a cowboy saddled, can’t wait for apple pie.
His fellow companion not ready to say good bye.
Raises his hands high,
Thanking God for his Cowboy Christmas.
From in the window there comes a light,
From a fire deep inside that is burnin’ bright.
As a maiden sits staring into the night,
Stars flyin’ across the sky with delight.
Thanking God for her Cowboy Christmas.
Children getting tucked in bed.
Their cheeks flushed bright rosy red,
From their fresh ride in the horse drawn sled.
Thinking about what beautiful gifts they will get in their head.
Thanking God for their cowboy Christmas.

I wrote this for the Cochise County Poetry Contest. It reminded me about how much life has not changed since the age of cowboys. That there are still people out there living this life. Including me.
