I can go from lady to ghetto in 2.5 seconds

If you think the burn from a stove is bad,
you should try falling in love
and then falling apart.
Nothing will scorch you quite like
his lips wrapped around the words
¨I never loved you¨.
I swear it will cauterize
your heart,
your lungs,
even your corneas because
a third degree burn like that
goes deeper than the skin.

The powdered charcoal left on his haggard hands
was from the time he wiped away my tears.
From the time he attempted to graft together
the respect and admiration
that only slowly seared into repulsion.

I had been seen by a grief practitioner
Who warned me:
¨The only way to sooth this irritation,
is to cover yourself in the aloe of oblivion,
Never let an old flame burn you twice”.

However,
The rehabilitation of a heart is demanding
It includes, but is not limited to:
The abuse of emotions, and denial of truths.
It destroys everything
It will rob me of all that I am
Corrupting my mind with negative annotations, and resistive tendencies
Priorities will soon become dust bunnies
collecting on the tile floor underneath the metal wheels of my hospital bed.
I’m cemented in a full body cast
that only allows for the free movement of
my depressing thoughts.

God,
just incinerate me instead.
