free flow
Water
Sand
Time
All slip through fingers
Soft, sliding
Falling, grasping
Glistening, gritty, hands on a clock slowly ticking
Trying to latch on to
It's futile
No friction can be felt between it and your hands
Unknowingly it passes
Then before you realize
The pitchers empty
The sand is blown away
The quiet of night has faded into day

This poem was inspired by the idea of some things being inevitable and out of our control (for example time and death) and I utilized other elements that are uncontollable such as water and gravity in a symbolic way.
The theme I want people to get fro it is that sometimes things are out of our hands, but that doesn't necessarily make them bad or scary. Sometimes it's just how it is. In that realization there is a kind freeing feeling I wanted to share.
