Shoelaces
Held back against your will,
stuck.
Tied back against yourself.
Forced to do someone else's work, immobile.
Trying desperately to move,
to break free,
to run.
But you're caged in,
helpless.
No one nearby to help,
no one nearby who wants to untie you.
At last you are free,
but you will always,
be a little bit held back.
And soon,
you know,
you will be held back again.
But this time,
you know,
you will eventually be free.
