Without Sleep
They say a man can't go forever without sleep but these bags under my eyes would like to beg a differ. And I don't fear demons because I know they're all human; I fear my subconscious and what it does to my conscious. Because while my subconscious attempts to rest, it projects mental films I can't escape. And when I'm conscious I'm left with unescapable images of you and her, leaving me restlessly rested, uncomfortably conscious of the love I know nothing of. So tonight to hell with sleep and I'll curse dreams because a groggy mind is much more survivable than a drowning heart. And although I always loved swimming, this sinking feeling in much more than I ever could survive.
