The Flower's Plight

Petals, so fiery they look warm to the touvh

The center, so black it would be invisible when the moon is away

The steam, so thin yet so long it seems to defy gravity the way it holds up the  flower

 

As briliantly yeallow and orange as the earth's sun, the petals glow;

Like a black hole, capable of encapsulating the earth, the center intrigues;

Like a straw, sucking up the earth's nutrients, the stem drinks

 

This black eyed Susan is no ordinary flower, for it has a task

Yes, it must survive, but it must do more than that

Venturing forth, it bears the load of Mohter Nature's harsh climate

It fights and grows to earn a spot in the beholders eye

Not unlike mankind, each is as beautiful as the next
