There's nothing to fear except fear it's self.

A diamond
A piece of coal that has withstood years of pressure
A diamond
A stone so hard that it is nearly unbreakable
Diamond
We are the diamonds
Or at least coal so far
Coal going though the pressure of life
Cracking every moment our GPA slips under a 4.0
Every moment a friend chooses another friend
Every moment we are called a disappointment
Narcissistic, sarcastic, good for nothing teenager
With nothing to give the world except a half baked promise
That we will educate ourselves enough to get a job that we hate
To help the economic structure for our nation
Our proud nation
That we don’t even recognize anymore
Forced to be in a building
To help “ourselves”
So we can have a brighter future
But it’s so hard to see that future
When the only thing a teacher doesn’t teach us
Is how to be happy
Being in school we establish a society just like the one outside the school walls
Just as corrupt or maybe even more so
The weaker ones are on the bottom
And the stronger ones are on the top
And that just adds more pressure on us
The gems
The bright faces of your future
Oh wait our future
The faces that are constantly being judged
Constantly getting put down
Let down
Beaten down to a pulp
Calling for help
But you won’t help
And those faces are slowly getting dimmer
Trying to be flawless in a flawed society
Trying to rise up against the pressure
And not cracking
And half of us do succeed in winning our own personal feats
But some don’t
Some people get constant pressure for being themselves
I guarantee the stressors themselves
Have never felt the pain of separation
The fear and desperation
To escape the enemy lines
Or maybe they have
Maybe they’re just like they’re victims
Maybe the pressure did not crush
Only maybe cracked the surface a touch
And jealous of the flawless gems
Or the ones that seem the best
Seek to do the same to them
But the cracks are much deeper
Depression sneaks up like a little creeper with a mallet
Pounding them down to a fine dust
But see the dust is still fine
All you need to do is cross the line
Don’t mope and say oh why
Oh why me
You will be the fine wine
You drink from the cup of success
The future is brighter then the past
Even though it doesn’t seem that why
The depression
The cracks wont last
And you will soon be flawless
And so will the fallen gems
For the fallen gems
You have changed this world
Your sacrifice has helped us gems
You have made us brave
And we will shine another day
For you our fallen gems
