I Was Told
I was told to write down my dreams
but I can't think of enough words to describe
the feeling of your chest rising and falling as I fell asleep
or the clear blue of your eyes, like ocean waves on a cloudy day
I remember walking hand in hand along the beach
on a day just like that
thinking it was us against the world forever
But then it hit me that you were my galaxy
but to you I was just another star
It dawned on me like the blazing sunlight relecting off the water
on mornings that I would wake up in your arms
You were a daydream and I was a nightmare
We were supposed to fit perfectly together
like pieces of a puzzle,
but I was the wrong shape for you
You were a beautiful nightmare
And I was told not to give up on my dreams,
but darling,
I have to give up on you.
