Outdoors
Sitting outside on a wavy stair,
I hear an air conditioner from my neighbors home,
on this abnormally hot, fall afternoon with the sun beaming down.
I hear tools, drilling and sawing, in the other direction.
A bird is faintly chirping from high above in a tree,
Almost as though it is communicating with rattling snakes and grasshoppers,
Each from their own habits.
Shadows of trees wave at each other,
From the sligh breeze,
Enjoying each part of the day as it goes on.
