Daddy's Girl
Always away when I was young,
working to provide for your family.
Missing those childhood moments that you will never get back.
You tried to find a balance
but failed in the bondage of responsibility.
From missing ballet recitals,
to the award ceremonies that can never happen again,
you tried.
I could not remain little forever.
I apologize for this development that occured
right under your nose,
but dad,
you need to see I am an adult.
Yes, I will always be your little girl,
but things have changed.
I no longer think boys have cooties,
I no longer have so much dependence on you.
This does not change my attitude towards you,
I love you,
You are my hero,
but daddy,
I'm all grown up.
