I Remember

I forgot, I forgot,

The way your voice sounded,

the little things you did

to make me smile;

you never came at me wrong,

nor asked too much of me.

But now I often wish you had asked for more.

I forgot, Iforgot,

thr flowers, red and white.

The Violets, and the Daisies,

those flowers made my day.

The Lilacs on Tuesdays,

and the Roses on special occasions

like my birthday-

the picture is living in my phone.

I forgot, I forgot,

the park where we used to wing,

and thought I was the highest.

Singing "I believe I can fly" with my wings;

my spirit has never been so alive then,

it got heavy.

And the summer pools could hardly hold,

the tears that fell.

I remember, I remember,

the lonely dark nights;

I used to think I was strong

that we were close;

it was childish love,

but now I'm sure

to know I'm better off without you

than I was with you.

The author's comments:

The was a copy and change assignment from my creative writting class and it was one of the only poems from the class that I really cherished so I thought I would submit it. It might be a little cliche with it talking about summer love, but I feel like people might be about to relate to it.
