Tuesday Afternoon
Take a walk
Stop.
Sip your coffee, stare at the trees, it’s Autumn now
Go.
Meet up with a friend
He’s seen you drunk. He’s seen you wasted. You say hello
Stop.
He’s tired, overly tired
You tell him to sleep, he says nah
Go.
Tell him about your pregnancy paranoia, that you’re five days late
He tells you it’ll be ok
You guess so
Stop.
He asks if you want to smoke
You don’t say no
You get high
Go.
You’re listening to music now
He doesn’t understand Bob Dylan
You’re not surprised
Stop.
You hug him goodbye and he leaves for the library
You worry about your younger brother
You wish he didn’t look up to you
You wish nobody looked up to you
Go.
