It is graduation day
The day I’ve been waiting for my whole life.
For 8 years of my life, you were gone.
You were not even here for half of my life thus far.
You’re like dirt to me
nothing, you mean nothing.

Where were you when I was struggling with multiplication?
Oh with that lady making my half brother.
Where were you when Mama fell down 30 steps?
Oh out with that lady buying baby supplies.

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.

You were all the way across the world.
Never even gave us a dime
You even made two more siblings with two different ladies in Vietnam too.
In those 8 years, you couldn’t even spare a minute to wish my siblings and I a simple happy birthday.
How dare you come back into my life thinking everything will be the same as 8 years ago?
“I’ll buy you a car, anything you need! college? I’ll pay”
Yeah right.

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.

It’s time daddy, time for me to grow up and go off to college.
I slowly letting go of Mama. I won’t need to be under her wing anymore.
So where is my college money? my car?
Oh wait, let me wait for an excuse first.
You’re not even here to see my cross the stage.

Save it, the “money and car” I don’t need anything from you
Not like I was going to get it anyways
I grew up amazingly without you.
I hate you.
Forgive you? Never.
