The Transformation

"I" is a single grain of sand in the mass land of the alphabet
A word that can wrap the entire world around you and your ego
"Want" is a desire, a passion burning in the pit of your heart
Something that cannot step away from center stage in your thoughts
"To break" is to feel the shatter of porcelain, the scrape of glass shards
A tearing apart with the doubt of full recovery
"Up" is the staircase burning through the sky,
burying you deeper and deeper as you step down
Put these elements together and you have an ugly phrase
A string of grotesque words that can lead to heartache
There is one way to remedy this darkness painting strokes on your heart
Just the mutiny of some words and the exile of others
"I" becomes a stick figure, selfless and giving
A foil to everything it was once meant to be
And "love" liquidates your heart, letting this thick gooey warmth spread through your body like a passionate wildfire
"You" is the muse of painters through the centuries
The inspiration to a sound vibrating off a harmonic chord
Suddenly the phrase gives you this floating feeling
Suddenly, you don't want to let that person go
