The Survivor

A word,
A thought,
A whisper
Pain she locked deep within,
Revealed as tears roll down her cheeks,
Like rain.

The boy,
who left an imprint
Of his soul here
In her heart,
All traces of the happiness he gave her
Are lost in the gloom of hurt and grief.

But today arms hold her tight
Pull her up off of ground,
Place her softly back on to her feet.

He could not hurt her anymore.

She, whose world had been shattered
Had hidden too long in
The depth of her tears,
Had laid too long
Face down in ignorance,
Her mouth spilling words
Meant to shelter her from her fears.

Today,

She is strong.
